Having risen from a bargain basement manufacturer in the 1990s to as high as number three on the Australian sales charts, Hyundai believes it has conquered another milestone: the all important Aussie barbecue test.
The latest achievement in the South Korean brand’s meteoric rise doesn’t stem from the introduction of a high powered sports car, but the ongoing success of its relatively suburban seven seat SUV, the Sante Fe.
Now the South Korean manufacturer wants to play on its freshly conceived status. http://www.dapoxetineireland.nu The Sante Fe has received running changes for 2015 aimed at improving its top end appeal. The flagship Highlander which Hyundai says constitutes half of all Santa Fe SUVs sold locally bears the biggest number of updates, including ride and handling tweaks.
Priced at $53,240 plus on road costs, the Highlander is now $1250 more expensive than before. dapoxetine ireland But for that it receives a suite of new equipment including daytime running lights and cornering lights (now standard across the Sante Fe range), automatic park assist, new 19 inch alloy wheels with a full size spare, a new panoramic roof and an electric tailgate with hands free operation. The latter function works using the vehicle’s proximity key; operating the tailgate automatically after standing at the back of the car for three seconds.
During Drive’s opening familiarisation of the Highlander in Byron Bay, its on road finesse matches the lofty price tag.
Fitted with an existing 145kW/421Nm 2.2 litre turbo diesel engine, the Sante Fe makes effortless progress in and around the Northern NSW hinterland, shifting pleasantly and nonchalantly through its six ratios. The engine is eager when prompted, dapoxetineireland dropping a couple of gears and revving cleanly to its 4500rpm cut out (though creating a lot of diesel clutter in the process).
Economy is a definite strong suit in the diesel; we achieve about 8.0L/100km combined during the 200km loop, a respectable figure given the 7.3L/100km claim.
The revised damping and springs work brilliantly on Byron Bay’s patchwork roads, with a firm but sporty ride that manages to iron out most everyday undulations. Only the sharpest of bumps manage to upset the cabin, though importantly, the ride is never crashy and jittery.
The inherent sporty bias brings a pleasing level of driver engagement during a back road jaunt to the hills. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dapoxetine While its circa 1900kg heft cannot be completely hidden, the Sante Fe is well executed in its body control inspiring driver confidence while feeling quiet and composed. All wheel drive grip from the standard Hankook 19 inch tyres is especially reassuring.
The Sante Fe retains a three mode steering system from previous models. Light and progressive, the system works well in family conveyance; though the adjustability is little more than a gimmick, bringing little change in feel or response.
Crucially, Mums and Dads shouldn’t find the Sante Fe’s size at all imposing behind the wheel. It masks its large proportions well with the help of a clear outlook from the driver’s seat, large mirrors and a suite of assistance functions like front and rear parking sensors and a reversing camera.
The Highlander variant also scores lane departure warning for 2015. Essentially the system fires visual and audible warnings to the driver when it feels the vehicle is straying outside of its perimeter. dapoxetineireland While good in theory, the system tends towards overzealous on windy back roads and is soon switched off in our test car.
The Sante Fe is otherwise well specified, with the most notable omissions for this price being blind spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control.
Front seats now feature three stage heating and cooling functions, while the two outermost second row pews feature two stage seat warmers plus in built sun shades for littlies.
The Sante Fe is big and commodious in the front two rows, offering excellent head and legroom, plus air vents to all passengers. dapoxetine ireland The seats themselves are soft and accommodating, fit for family road trips.
The third row is fit for temporary seating at best, with less leg and head room than most cars in this segment unless you opt to play musical chairs and slide the front two rows forward, therefore impeding space in those quarters.
The Sante Fe is otherwise functional, with ample storage, and some nice styling touches inside and out.
A five star safety rating is standard thanks to a suite of technologies including traction and stability control. http://www.dapoxetineireland.nu One oversight though: the rearmost bleachers aren’t fitted with curtain airbags.
